BPC-157

5mg vial

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound) is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protective protein sequence found in gastric juice. Across preclinical research it has been studied extensively for cytoprotection, accelerated soft-tissue recovery, tendon-to-bone healing, and gut lining repair - with pleiotropic activity across multiple organ systems.

Researched for

  • Studied for accelerated tendon, ligament and muscle repair
  • Researched for gastric ulcer and IBD-model gut healing
  • Neuroprotection and recovery in TBI animal models
  • Suppression of NF-κB and pro-inflammatory cytokines
  • Enhanced callus formation in fracture-repair research
  • Cytoprotective effects across multiple organ systems

Mechanism of action

Acts via upregulation of the nitric oxide (NO) system, modulation of VEGF/EGF growth factor signalling, and activation of the FAK-paxillin pathway to accelerate fibroblast migration and tissue remodelling. Demonstrates both peripheral and central activity.

Research protocol

Common research protocols use 200–500mcg per day subcutaneously (approx. 2–10mcg/kg), administered once or twice daily, in 4–12 week cycles. 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off is a frequently cited schedule.

Half-life

approx. 4 hours (animal pharmacokinetic estimates; human PK data remains limited)

Reconstitution

Reconstitute a 5mg vial with 1–2mL of bacteriostatic water, injected slowly down the side of the vial. Swirl gently - do not shake. Standard working concentration is approx. 500mcg/mL.

Storage

Lyophilised: refrigerate at 2–8°C (stable up to approx. 24 months); avoid freeze-thaw cycles. Reconstituted: store at 2–8°C, protect from light, and use within 30 days.

Research considerations
  • Theoretical VEGF/angiogenesis concern noted in 2025 reviews - precautionary for subjects with pre-existing neoplastic tissue.
  • Efficacy data is primarily preclinical (rodent); no completed human RCTs as of mid-2025.
  • Mild nausea has been reported anecdotally at higher doses; tolerability is otherwise considered favourable in animal research.
