Glutathione (γ-Glu-Cys-Gly) is the body's principal intracellular antioxidant and a critical cofactor for detoxification enzymes. It is studied for reducing oxidative stress, supporting liver function, modulating immune responses, and as an adjunctive skin-brightening agent through melanin-inhibiting mechanisms.

Directly neutralises reactive oxygen species and regenerates other antioxidants (vitamins C and E). Serves as a substrate for glutathione peroxidase and glutathione S-transferase enzymes involved in phase II detoxification. In melanocytes, reduced glutathione shifts melanin production from eumelanin toward phaeomelanin.
Common research protocols use 200–600mg subcutaneously or intramuscularly per session, 1–3× weekly, or 600–1500mg weekly in divided doses. Skin-brightening research often uses higher-dose IV protocols under clinical supervision. Cycles typically run 4–12 weeks.
Plasma half-life is short (minutes); intracellular pools replenish over hours to days with repeated dosing.
Reconstitute a 600mg vial with 3–6mL bacteriostatic water for a 100–200mg/mL concentration. For 1500mg vials, 5–10mL is typical. Swirl gently - do not shake.
Lyophilised: 2–8°C, stable 12–18 months. Reconstituted: 2–8°C, protect from light, use within 14–21 days due to oxidation sensitivity.
